Another in the series of 'redevelopment' or 'renewal' or 'disappearance' or 'transition' of Fulton Street Market from food distribution center to hot spot for restaurants, hotels, and residences. Hard to believe but this is the entrance to three of the hottest restaurants (until the next ones come along) in the city. In warmer weather, there are lines in this alleyway that stretch out to the street, hoping to score a table at the BarBQ (Green St Smoked Meats) restaurant, the High Five Ramen restaurant just beyond, or RM Champagne Salon, at the end on the right. When we've gone there, we figured we raise the age represented by a few decades! Mornings, it's empty.
Taken on Thursday's photo walk.
Thank you for your lovely response to the Union Station column shots! Always appreciated.
Oh this is so much like the laneways in Melbourne! Lots of graffiti and grungy areas - but they are oh so popular with lots of bars and eateries. Many of them don't even have a sign; just a door with nothing written on it! It's all about the secrecy ;)
Love the way I can see right through to the end if the alley. Great textures here - suits b& w treatment bringing out all that detail! Those resteraunts sound interesting. Fav!
Oh I love this shot, so much to look at here. I really like how your photos and editing give the viewer the feeling that they are walking right into the pictures.
Fabulous to see this...such is what I'd asked to see! It's perfect that they kept the imagery on the walls... I'm fascinated to read, too, that it's a hot spot for the young and hip! (not that you and Jim are not...!)
Awesome on black bringing out the textures and lines......................love how this draws you down the hall way! The smoked meats would draw my husband in immediately, sounds like interesting restaurants!
I really like the way you composed this, the somewhat 'off-putting imagery on the bricks combined with the enter sign and the long perspective lets me fall into this and makes me truly want to explore more. .
This is so good in b&w. the lane/hallway draws they eye in very strongly and there is such a lot to see in the shot. The pov and perspective are superb.
Instant fav, Taffy! I love all those lines leading my eye through the image...wondering where all the food is lol On another note, as you are making such an amazing and interesting collection of Fulton Street shots, do you think you will put together a photobook or magazine? I definitely believe they are print worthy :)
