Only the Lucky Few Get In by taffy

Only the Lucky Few Get In

Another in the series of 'redevelopment' or 'renewal' or 'disappearance' or 'transition' of Fulton Street Market from food distribution center to hot spot for restaurants, hotels, and residences. Hard to believe but this is the entrance to three of the hottest restaurants (until the next ones come along) in the city. In warmer weather, there are lines in this alleyway that stretch out to the street, hoping to score a table at the BarBQ (Green St Smoked Meats) restaurant, the High Five Ramen restaurant just beyond, or RM Champagne Salon, at the end on the right. When we've gone there, we figured we raise the age represented by a few decades! Mornings, it's empty.
Taken on Thursday's photo walk.
Thank you for your lovely response to the Union Station column shots! Always appreciated.
Sam
Oh this is so much like the laneways in Melbourne! Lots of graffiti and grungy areas - but they are oh so popular with lots of bars and eateries. Many of them don't even have a sign; just a door with nothing written on it! It's all about the secrecy ;)

Great lines and structures. Love the contrasts too. I like places that look different at different times of the day.

I like the depth to this and all the lines. As far as I know we don't have such places in theUK but then if there secret how would I know....:)

You are so good at creating depth in your images, I feel like I could step right into the scene and explore up the alley.

There is lane similar to this near Waterloo in London, I shot there about a year or so ago
February 5th, 2017
Fabulous to see this...such is what I'd asked to see! It's perfect that they kept the imagery on the walls... I'm fascinated to read, too, that it's a hot spot for the young and hip! (not that you and Jim are not...!)

Awesome on black bringing out the textures and lines......................love how this draws you down the hall way! The smoked meats would draw my husband in immediately, sounds like interesting restaurants!

@jgpittenger Oh gosh - you made my night!! Except I think of YOU as MY teacher!! Mutual admiration -- always special. We must meet in person sometime!
February 6th, 2017
Fantastic shot- while the restaurants are going for "minimal" you've given us so much to look at!
February 6th, 2017
I really like the way you composed this, the somewhat 'off-putting imagery on the bricks combined with the enter sign and the long perspective lets me fall into this and makes me truly want to explore more. .
February 6th, 2017
Dramatic capture of that intriguing lane-way.
February 6th, 2017
superb shot, erecting and composition
February 6th, 2017
This is so good in b&w. the lane/hallway draws they eye in very strongly and there is such a lot to see in the shot. The pov and perspective are superb.
February 6th, 2017
Instant fav, Taffy! I love all those lines leading my eye through the image...wondering where all the food is lol On another note, as you are making such an amazing and interesting collection of Fulton Street shots, do you think you will put together a photobook or magazine? I definitely believe they are print worthy :)
February 6th, 2017
Oh I love this photo! It works perfectly in black and white as well. Very well taken and processed.
February 6th, 2017
Your photo draws the eyes in just as I imagine the smell of the food or the interest of the people would draw us in were we here in person.
February 6th, 2017
Absolutely wonderful composition, I love your choice of b&w. I'm drawn into the alley following the way to the other-side. Very inviting I must say.
February 6th, 2017
What a fantastic entrance to the restaurant. Wonderful and gritty in black and white.
