Spent the afternoon at the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) with two friends patient about photography. I was captivated by the stripes in this section of a painting by Joan Miró called Portrait of Juanito Obrador. I thought it would work for this month's b&w but I should have saved it for the splash of red, since that's the color of the flower on the bodice.

I love all the lines and patterns in this shot. You have given me an idea for a bit of a play in Photoshop. Too hot to go out and take photos here at the moment. I will let you know if my idea materialises.
@brigette He really was an amazing artist. There's a museum he founded outside Barcelona that I was so fortunate to be able to visit. What an influence he had -- and such beautiful pieces. Chicago has one of his large outdoor sculptures and it's totally whimsical.
Oh I adore this! Of course I'm fully jealous that you spent the afternoon at the Art Institute! One could go daily, and this image is a perfect example of how every viewing would reveal something new!
