The phone rang mid-morning, Jim asking where I was. 'At home' I responded. He then suggested I leave, mentioning fire trucks surrounding our building. Nov 9, 2014 flashed before -- https://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-11-11 -- me as I headed into the hallway, then down the stairs where I could smell smoke. Fortunately it all turned out to be a problem with the restaurant's oven that was sending out smoke and we've been assured there is no danger from fire. Total relief and glad we are at the opposite end and floor to the restaurant on the corner.
Glad it wasn't anything serious. This is a terrific photo that will probably be admired years from now - the fire trucks will look so vintage!!1 Love your processing.
OMG Taffy how scary for you! It must have brought it all back! Thank goodness all was ok and not a fire! I love your image - a great B&W which seems timeless! Fav!
Cool. Another nice example of how you can use B&W transformations and manipulations to "develop" a black and white. For instance the sky, reducing the blues low to see the clouds. Cool.
Wheeew !!!!! what a scary moment bringing back your worse nightmare ! -- glad all was well this time ! A great pov and capture of the building and signs of the event ! fav
What a great capture and pov, but a very scary story...so glad to hear all ended well. I just went back and saw your other fire post..one fire is one to many but two...omg
OMG, you poor soul, I really feel for you. Personal catastrophes like you experienced never seem to leave you, there's a highly sensitive alarm button inside one's brain forever. On the brighter side, this is such a good image, especially in b&w. The shapes and lines of the buildings and fire-trucks stand so clearly and the shot has a wonderfully vintage feel to it. B&W is growing on me.
@lesip haha! You are exactly right...I looked around the room briefly (it's a very small condo we are renting) and decided I would leave what's here behind, grabbing only my camera as I went out. I figured Jim wouldn't have sounded so calm if he were worried about a fire spreading through the building!
@ukandie1 Really, that's how it felt. I looked around the little condo and thought, I can't go through gathering up computer, etc this time...I will be optimistic and just take my camera. It wasn't til I was going down the stairs (instead of elevator) and smelled smoke that I thought it was dumb of me to leave my computer behind! Alls well that ends well, and it was fun to capture all the trucks surrounding us knowing there was a happy ending (for us, not so much for The Publican and their cleanup/repairs).
