Good friends and their two dogs are visiting us this week, a treat to have them and their wonderful well-behaved, cuddly pups. This friend loves to garden, so we engaged in 'nerd fun' -- weeding and moving plants around in one of my flower beds -- when this fellow appeared. I had my macro lens ready and he posed awhile before scampering off. I wish I'd had one of him looking at me AND sticking his tongue -- which looked like another leg -- onto the leaf. I wasn't sure what he was eating.
Wow look at those long legs!! Great find and wonderful image. Love your focus. Such a surprised look!! He really didn't expect to bump into you Taffy!! LOL! Fav!
Fantastic focus! And like Rachel said love his face, great expression, makes me think of Finn as he sees a big dog! Glad you had some cuddly friendly dog time :)
WOW. Awesome shot. Wonderful colours and focus.
He's not eating anything there. Those little "legs / tongue " are his fangs, with which he grabs his prey, he then uses them to inject a venom like a hypodermic needle. This venom contains a fluid which acts like a paralytic agent, he then vomits digestive fluids onto the prey. Then as the prey dissolves, he then uses these fangs to suck up the fluids.
Not a very nice process, but in no way distracts from a fabulous image .
