Behind in posting...this was last night, before today's snow. I remembered today how much I don't like to drive under any conditions, much less in a snowstorm. Sadly, my only photos of today were the condo lobby "before" pictures as I've ended up chairing the renovation committee. Not the most interesting set of images!
I really like how the tones of the city lights match that of the sky! Dylan was out and about in the car in the snow this afternoon, and knowing he has next to no experience driving in the snow I was on edge until he got home safely!
@jgpittenger No - it was such a half-fast shot that I upped luminescence to get rid of as much noise as possible, and I did increase vibrance, but then decreased saturation. This was HDR, using a .7 spread for three bracketed shots. I wished my tripod was set up, as the light changed so fast that I barely caught it.
Excellent light in the sky. The tones match those in the city. So cold, out here! Chair of the renovation committee... no good deed goes unpunished. ;)
I used to hate driving in snow when we lived in the UK and once got caught in a blizzard on the Pennines driving over to visit my Nanna. Scary. The blizzard was scary, not my Nanna, ha ha.
I love your nightscapes! This one even looks cold! We got a huge dump of snow before the polar vortex moved in. Now, we get excited about single digit temps ;-)
Fascinating - the gold makes it look warm and the blue on the rooftops makes it look cold. Warm on the bottom and cold on the top - obviously snuggled up like a cat against the radiator and just sticking its nose out into the night air!
Sympathies on the driving in a snow storm. I remember one trip back from Austria where I was leaning out of the window trying to spray de-icer on to the screen because our windscreen washer bottle had frozen solid and we were driving the Autobahns through Germany with just 2 inches square of visible windscreen!! Totally crazy. Always fill it up full to the brim with neat de-icer now.
The colours, lights and patterns in this shot look wonderful. I do like the way the street lights and roads take the eye right into the shot. According to our media you're getting extremely cold weather so I imagine it'd be very dangerous on the roads. We don't get snow or ice, thank goodness.
