I do not get to see sunrises as they happen before I wake up. But with Jim needing to be at the hospital for a (now successfully completed) procedure this morning, we were up at 4:45 a.m. I took this with my iPhone from the hospital west of the city on the campus of the university where I used to (and Jim still does) work. You can how the Sears (Willis) Tower dominates Chicago's skyline. It almost (but not quite) encourages me to consider rising early again.
Probably needs to be viewed on black.

Cityscape sunrises always have me singing that Carly Simon song from "Working Girl" - Let the river run...... sumptuous colours here, almost worth getting up for though I am with you on the warm bed thing!! Wishing Jim a thorough recovery.
What a super and comforting early morning blanket of beauty!

I want to give you my condolences for your good friend that had passed away so suddenly! I understood that you are a more than great, helpful and warm friend to Junko. I wish you, and also your husband, strength to go on with this severe loss...
I am an early riser and was up at 5am yesterday and saw that same band of cloud, but from further west I could see the sunrise from both above and below it. obviously my background was no where near as interesting as yours...just Chicago Bungalow rooftops, trees, and a ton of polls and wires! Super capture Taffy!
After seeing this, I am thinking of getting an iPhone! Tremendous scene - and surely this is enough inspiration to get up for sunrise every once in a while. hope all goes well with recovery for Jim.
@helenhall Thanks for the kind words. Jim's doing well today and should be able to come home tomorrow. And will be better within a few weeks, so all is good.
I saw a line of clouds just like this at sunset last night. The backdrop was not nearly as spectacular. So glad Jim’s procedure was a success! Winter skies can be so different and beautiful.
Hope all is well with Jim

My favourite time of day..............but then I can't stay up late at night!
