Our trip has come to an end. Jane, Junko, and I spent our last day here walking along the rim of the canyon from mid-morning through sunset. But this sunset is from the night my camera broke -- the last shot I took with it. So I thought I'd post it here.
This composition was inspired by the one Junko had posted, taken the previous night, emphasizing the shadows among the formations: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2018-10-20
We fly back to Chicago tomorrow morning but without a camera, I'll be posting Grand Canyon shots for awhile, I suspect.
Oh wow Taffy, you've obviously had a great trip. Sorry to hear about the camera though! Lovely, lovely image of this iconic place. I look forward to more!
That's a lot of walking but what a fabulous image you captured. Oh my so sad about the camera . decisions decisions you know mirrorless may be the way to go if poor D610 has taken his/hers last snap.
I know how it feels, to be without the favorite camera (I fell in the river in Nova Scotia this summer, with the camera), it is so painful as they are like friends. I really hope it can be repared and look forwart to more Grand Canyon shots.
Drama. Great shot. Isnt it amazing how often cloud formations seem to be sensitive to the landscape. I mean, that little bit of cloud dipping down at the same point where you get the break in the rock formation. I suppose it might happen for good scientific reasons but it sure does help the art!
I like the 3 repeating shapes contrasted with the other side of the frame. We sure had a wondytime. May your Nikon be well soon. FYI looks as if this isn’t quite level
This is fabulous, the cloud is the icing on the tasty cake the Grand Canyon rim is... You need to replace that camera, this site couldn't make it without your photos!
