This was taken at the new Chicago Architectural Center history exhibit. A to-scale model of the city spreads below a full wall sized video. The history of the city unfolds on the screen, beginning with the early settlement on the Chicago River through the many events including the Great Chicago Fire to the international commercial center today. As the video unfolds, the model lights up to show where the events were occurring. It's quite a dramatic display. The scene behind the classic skyline appears toward the end, and is probably from 2017, before the construction blocking the view of the large building on the left started.
Sort of fits the idea of pattern and repetition for flash of red. And it looks a lot better on black.
Such a clever image! I remember seeing the scale model at the Architectural Centre. How interesting to see the video of Chicago’s history linked to the model. Wonderful capture! Has all the ice gone around Lake Michigan?
from the african safari to the urban jungle. the lights here are exquisite, miss taffy. i might come to chicago after the march break. i hope you will be there to finally meet you and junko.
Hard to believe this is just a photo of a scale model. With all the lights, it looks so real. I guess there aren't as many cars moving on the streets as there would be in real life. Great capture.
