I have a love-hate relationship with this building. It totally blocked our view of the Chicago River when it was constructed 2 years ago, but it provides an ever-changing scene as it reflects the light from the west. And architecturally, it's a winner. Oh well...
Thank you all so much for getting my "Drip, Drip, Drip" shot to the top spot on TT. Very exciting to see it there and much appreciate your support.
I agree that the reflections are wonderful but losing a great view is hard too. In the name of progress. I will look forward to more of the changing reflections.
So sad to loose the view but at least it’s a stunning building and the way it has captured these fabulous reflections is magical! You win some you lose some!
So difficult to loose a view - especially a river view. You got something interesting and obviously at times magnificent, in its place. At least you are someone that appreciates the architecture. Great fiery image.
those reflections are amazing - but such a pain to have it stuck in the way of your view (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy starts with the rant Douglas Adams' mother used to wheel out at the last provocation - she moved into a new house, built up the hill from her original house because the planners allowed a big block of flats to be built in her view, without any publicity.
I can certainly see why you have that love/hate relationship. The reflection is spectacular- if you'd cropped the shot to only contain it, the abstract feel would be very unique (this crop is good too!). But if you had the view of the river, that too would be a nice sight to see. I guess you will always live with those mixed feelings- unless for some reason the building gets sucked up into space without any warning!
