I returned to the archives to find something to work on for posting tonight and was struck by how I could impose a 'sheltering in place' meaning to some of my shots. This was taken during our Zoo Lights in early January.
Exercise warning story: Because we are indoors, bad weather, and fitness room closed, I thought it a good idea to exercise. I was doing warm up side-steps up and down the hallway when suddenly the carpet and my shoe acted as velcro and down I went. I now have a serious muscle sprain at the hip and cannot walk without assistance. Pain meds and muscle relaxants, along with Jim's help, are getting me through. Of course, a trip to the ER was impossible (scary for virus and too much pain to get there), but fortunately, I already had the pills I'd need from a neck sprain a few years ago. Silver lining, I'm feeling normal except for the walking and should heal in a week or two. Poor Jim -- on top of all the cleaning we were having to do, now he's got to attend to me! So lesson learned: we can be injured even in our own homes if we aren't being careful/smart. Clearly, I'd been neither!
A great light image. Oh no - I am sad to hear of such an injury. You cannot even pass it off with a scary story - wet pavement, chased by a rabid dog, dodging an out of control car... Take care and rest up and Jim will be able to count up the amount of coffees/teas you owe him when you’re up and about again!
Oh no- so sorry to hear about your fall! Hopefully you will mend quickly. At least you have what you need at home. I'd be thinking twice about going to the ER too. Good shot!
Really cool lion lights, wow! But, aww, I'm so very sorry about your injury. I'm glad you have what you need at home, and your dear Jim, to help you out. I hope you have a speedy recovery and please take the time you need to get well.
A very timely message. Not only do we have to isolate to protect ourselves and others from the virus, but we have to be so careful that we don't have to attend hospital for other reasons. My elderly friend has fallen and broken a hip and in hospital for surgery. Heaven help her. The photo also seems to make the point that even if you risk offending someone, you must keep apart! I hope you feel better very soon.
Gosh...I am sorry for your fall and injury. I, too, fell on 3/13 and had to call 911. All is good. No broken bones just shock, bruising, and a tad bit embarrassed over getting my foot got in a paper bag's handle. Take care.
Oh no what a story. Glad no bones were broken. What a time to have an injury. Hope you are fit again soon. Stay away from exercising it can be dangerous.
I hate pain - it is debilitating so I'm very careful at all times. But my back decides when it goes out and its gone out. Strong painkillers my refuge like you!
This is a perfect image for this time in our lives. I’m so glad you could power through your injury and not have to go to the ER. I keep meds too when I can, so glad you had what you needed. Yikes, shoes and carpet equal Velcro, who knew?!
Cool image.............so sorry about your injury, wishing you a speedy recovery!
I get what you are saying about exercise now with being in isolation!
Oh Taffy, what a total drag. Glad you aren’t any more damaged than you are. Good reminder though. There is something so cheerful about this social distancing shot
So sorry you injured yourself. Staying out of the hospital is a smart move so I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you can manage with the pain meds you have. I applaud you for even posting right now. Very fun image.
Oh dear, Taffy - so sorry to read this. That's the kind that scares you - the simple normal activity that just goes wrong and down you go. Do hope with doing nothing for a bit it will heal correctly and quickly for you. Bless Jim. And I love the picture.
Oh big ouchies!! Hope you mend well. I am sure you will not be alone in such things and I too would not have gone to the ER at such a time. Love your image, so evocative of the current time.
Lovely capture, sorry to hear of your injury. I actually tried doing some home exercises since a week as my physiotherapist is closed and I need to make sure my back doesn't seize up. Unfortunately my knees are complaining badly so will try to avoid any strain on those. Get better soon
Oh so sorry about your injury. I'm doing a Zoom Pilates class at home later this morning, so I'd better be careful! Get well soon Taffy! Beautiful image you've posted.
A lovely image Taffy but what a tale of misadventure! So sorry to hear this but you certainly did the right thing not going to ER! Hospitals are to be avoided at this time if at all poss! Hope your recovery is going well? Stay safe both of you and take care!
Ah, memories of our trip to Zoo Lights. Take care of yourself -- our challenges now are how to safely exercise indoors. If it had happened to me, I'd still be on the floor!
An additional proof that the most dangerous place is our home. Sorry to hear that you hurt yourself, Taffy. Hope drugs make your pain tolerable. We have brought up here with us several medications, but if this isolation continues (and it will continue) I will need to go to the pharmacy. I hate the idea: you never know where the horrible beast hides. Take care!
the hip heals quickly
