Thank you for all your kind wishes! I'm improving - still laid up but can get up without too much pain and can put a bit of weight on my injured leg.
I took this iPhone shot just after Jim's doctor had told us we'd have to cancel our Patagonia trip. At the time I was devastated. How times have changed.
So gutted for your Patagonia trip! We are so close yet so far apart, the tea will get to you before I do, crazy times that we live in. Loving Mr. Elephant in the corner! Stay strong!
Glad you have some weight and movement on it. Hopefully it should heal before long. I am glad you weren't in Patagonia, you might have got trapped far from home and unable to travel back. It will be an amazing treat once this is over to be able to travel again. In the meantime, photography is proving to be my friend, looking back over beautiful places I have been before and being grateful for all I have already been lucky enough to see. This storm will pass. Right now it feels slow overhead, but it will pass.
So many travel plans have gone up in smoke in the last few weeks. We were supposed to be going to Africa for 6 weeks at the end of May. I'm now glad that we'll be staying put.
This photo brings about sad memories of how I felt so bad for you having to cancel your trip, and yet relief that you weren't gone when all this got exponentially worse.
I am pleased to read you have some movement so you are doing the right thing! It might take a while to fully heal and patience is required! i think the fact Patagonia was cancelled is a blessing as you would probably be stuck there right now! Stay safe! It is so strange being down here in Devon and unable to see Ruth and her girls and go out investigating the countryside as we normally do! At least the sun has been shining since we got here and we are making the most of it sitting in the garden!
Hope you are healing and resting. If you have a walking stick, or even a monopod, it would help to take the weight off your leg. I used one after a skiing accident/knee surgery and it made a big difference.
Funny, I have 2 unpacked suitcases on the floor of one bedroom from my Carolina trip. I just closed the door and havenât wanted to deal with it.
I've got a friend coming to the end of a two week tour of Costa Rica, but of course no guarantee the scheduled flight back to the UK on Friday will happen.
Oh no, I missed the news that you hurt your leg! So sorry. Hope you will be better soon. A pity for the missed trip, but imagine being there when they ordered the lockdown... It could have been a nightmare! Get well asap!
Two of my friends from our photo club were scheduled to go to Africa- a trip they'd been planning for an entire year. They had started the journey but were sent back home. They are so disappointed and would probably understand your disappointment to the tee. But just as it is with them as it is for you better to be home than away when travel and movement is restricted. I hope you continue to improve with that leg- salt on the wound! Find a good spot by your lovely picture window, rest and watch the world go by. Feel better soon!
@redy4et Thanks for the suggestion. I'd been using a walker that Jim had from his knee surgery and felt very old and decrepit. Now I've switched to one of my walking sticks that I'd gotten for the Patagonia trip. Feeling more spry!!
