This osprey did what ospreys do and I was so excited that one of the MANY I took was in focus, and it was the one when it was closest to me. This was taken at Matanzas National Monument at the southern tip of Anastasia Island which is the one that St Augustine is on (but at the north end). I was a tagalong to an Audubon birding group so learned a lot about what I was seeing (all the dark-ish blurs in the background were different kinds of gulls, terns, pelicans, plovers, and more.
Thanks for your kind comments and favs on The Thinker great heron!
Beautiful composition. Great focus. One suggestion…with eagles and osprey, expose for the whites even if you create some noise when you bring up the shadows
@photographycrazy Thanks for the welcome! We are planning to go to Savannah on our way home. I'm sure you enjoyed it there. I've been birding several times now -- there is a lot in the St Augustine area but only eagles were from a far distance. There's so much birdlife along the coast and in the prairies and marshes inland -- exciting (and so much warmer than Chicago, even though it's fairly cool for FL in this area).
