I've been focusing on the photo class I'm taking, so not much time to take new photos but LOTS of time spent processing and reviewing photos I've already taken. This was recent at least, from a few weeks ago. It's wonderful to finally see spring weather - more motivating to get out, definitely!
Apologies for lack of commenting!
@ankers70 I've been taking a series of courses at Chicago Photography Classes that focus on color and printing (types of papers and their effects on the print process). It all impacts photo editing (using LR and PS mostly). I've learned a lot.
How fascinating that you have found the ideas from the past techniques useful to your editing. I've just visited a second hand book shop and found a 1990 photographic magazine - hopefully a lot of the ideas in there will help me remember how to use my camera.... This is such a gorgeous shot! :)
so striking with the stark contrasts. So have you printed this? And what paper would it work on? I guess there is much to learn in this field and it is one of the things that puts me off printing - a whole new set of decisions to make. Interesting that it seems that your knowledge will affect the way your process your images.
@helenhall Haven't printed it yet, but will print it on a luster or glossy paper as matte will just absorb the blacks and dull everything. Think of your screen as glossy or luster, and then you think about what happens when the ink is absorbed. Makes for artistic shots, but not the 'pow' of a big glossy print. But there are a LOT of wonderful matte papers too.
