Jim is cleaning out about 3 moves worth of boxes that have never been unpacked. This must have belonged to his father. Does anyone on the site know anything about this kind of camera? I'm looking for advice about whether it should 'have a future' or be consigned to trash. Thanks in advance for any advice!
So, I love old devices. I would never throw this camera away. It was introduced when I was born. It's great that it survived. Some pay several thousand dollars for a well-preserved piece.
There are a number of camera collectors out there that could be interested. It doesn't appear that old Polaroids are quite in the same class as, say, old Leica's, but I found a web site that might help you identify whether or not it's considered to be a collectible: http://polaroids.theskeltons.org/using.htm
@stray_shooter Thanks, Ron! This looks like a fairly common model, and on eBay, I've seen it priced from very low (under $20.00) to around $50.00. I doesn't appear to be a leather version, which is where the more valuable ones come in. I really just hate the thought of tossing it, and I don't want it, so I'm hoping to find someone to adopt it (for the price of shipping). @jerome I wish you lived closer so shipping wouldn't be a problem. I'm hoping for someone that would like to have it and give it a good home!
Taffy, if you are on Facebook, you can go to their Marketplace and put it on with a couple of photos and a little bit of information and a price. Someone will snap it up!!!!!
@taffy I often give things away that have memories attached to them because I can not bear the thought of me throwing them away. I do not mind the receiver throwing them away as long as I don't know.
@louannwarren Very good to know...I'll check it out. But if someone on this site wants it I'd just as soon give it to that person as sell it online. Thanks for the lead!
I have my dads and just can't part with it.So many memories, I'll let my kids deal with in ... You will have this picture for Jim to treasure if happy memories are involved.
I do know one place here in PA which is sort of a museum of Americana that would most likely add it to their display. If you don't find someone who wants to use it, let me know and I will track down the address for you. It's where I got this shot- http://365project.org/olivetreeann/365/2019-11-10
Thanks Ann! So far, I have a few ideas, but nothing definite other than it will find a home or stay with me, but not get thrown away! I appreciate your offer!
@taffy i just saw this post and wanted to ad.
I have one of these that my friend got from his aunt. I need to buy film for it. There is a guy on YouTube that shows how to use it if you have not opened it before. I bet it takes wonderful photos.
Best,
Sam.
