Me March challenge today was something I like about work. I ended up the day observing -- along with a few of my colleagues from the search committee -- a job candidate doing a demonstration lesson. It happened to be in a class with some of my former students. What I like about work -- teaching teachers: getting to see former students as they've moved through our program, enthusiastic about what they are learning is one of the true joys of my job.
@olivetreeann He was great -- it was a writing class and he was bringing in ways to involve technology. They are creating digital stories. They had 10 minutes to capture five photos (from anywhere in the building) and then create a story to go with it. They were intense and their final products were a riot. This group ended up creating a story about our broken elevators and climbing long flights of stairs to get to class -- we were all in stitches as our elevators are ALWAYS broken! I caught them at the moment when they had run into a tech glitz and they were working together to solve it, and do so quickly.

It was a rare opportunity to be able to photograph 'my' students in someone else's class - I'm glad you can see their engagement in their expressions. It did make me (and our department chair who was in the background) proud. We do have wonderful students. Junko -- I figured someone had to have donated the turtle -- real artwork in the classroom for a change! Did you see my 'version' of it in the other posting? http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-03-07
@gerry@anwan Thanks! Three of the students were from my class last semester and they are just awesome. It was fun for me to see them continuing to be enthused about their masters program work.
I recognize that turtle!
