This is from yesterday's photowalk, West Kinzie St west of Halstead. I drive on this street often as it's a shortcut that allows us to avoid downtown traffic and highways. I had never noticed (a) the trees or (b) the fantastic graffiti behind the trees (will post some samples another day). We went by it in the morning on the way back from running errands, and I thought it was so interesting I went back late afternoon to photograph with better light. Just behind the trees is an elevated train track. The whole street is usually quite nondescript. It's amazing what flowering trees will do!
I have several photos from my two photo walks on Saturday and a third one today and may use them off and on this week as well (but still take at least a photo each day).
GREAT combination -- beautiful spring trees + brooding weather = spring! And great architecture adds a bonus, and your timing gives it fabulous lighting despite the weather. Nicely composed with leading lines, both the diagonal and the upward.
@photodude Thanks Scott. This street is actually nothing to write home about normally -- dominated by train tracks, nothing special in architecture, but this week, it's amazing to drive or walk down!
@cathieg@archaeofrog Thank you Cathie and Katie. The flowering trees make the city look so different! @jodimuli Love the 'buy one, get one' idea! @elaine55 Oh, that's so nice of you to say, Elaine! @amandal THanks Amanda! @havrotb Thanks, Barb! It is a great place to walk for this week, but mostly an area folks would not think to go to on foot. @foxsparrow Ann, thanks so much for the fav! @colie Thanks Colie! It is only possible for about a week this time of year. @jyokota Thanks Junko -- you know how rare a shot like this is from this street! @fishy Yep, spring is finally here in full force -- loving it. @kazlamont Thanks Kazzy. I'm inclined to want to do city shots for the next few weeks before we move to a little island in Lake Michigan. Photos will change radically! @kimshots Thanks Kim -- the trees really are amazing right now. Maybe the prettiest in the last few years.
