For the weekly theme, country and western, Beaver Island offers a lot of options. Today alone...an outhouse, old buildings, a turkey crossing the street in front of a motorcycle, to name just a few. This is on the shoulder of the road just off King's Highway at the corner where the medical center is located. The Moore's live across the street. Joe runs the unofficial Beaver Island website and Phyllis just retired as librarian. When she saw me trying to photograph them, she came out with some feed and they started to come over to her -- she said they feed the turkeys all winter so they are pretty fat and tame, "not like those in town," to quote Phyllis.
Thanks all! These turkeys are so funny -- I saw them today when I was at the luncheon after the garden tour. They really stay in a very small area where they apparently know they'll be well cared for.
