Continuing today's theme of birds of Beaver Island - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-08-18 - on the left is the amazingly hard to photograph osprey that lives in the cell tower on Sloptown Road (yes, that is the name of the road -- from the pig farms that apparently once existed along the way), where it has at least one young one that we can see from a distance. The parents hang out in a dead tree on the other side of Sloptown and on the way home, we spotted it and I had my zoom lens on my camera and stalked it from the treetop til the time it took off. Lucky day!! The bird on the right is a turkey vulture, taken a little earlier in town near the harbor.
Truly awesome......amazing captures!!! The Turkey Vulture actually looks beautiful in flight...impressive wing span. And such great shots of all of them.
Great shot of the Osprey- they are such an impressive bird! We get the turkey vultures soaring around here quite often. They're always on the look out for road kill, or they're enjoying the air currents.
