I spent some time in the subway today to try to get light trail shots for my get pushed challenge from @pennyp. As you can see, these are not light trails. Since I was a total failure at traffic light trails (I couldn't convince Jim that it was an important thing for him to do with me, and wimped out going out in the city with expensive equipment and tripod by myself - maybe tomorrow night...one last chance), I thought the light trails in the subway car flashing by might be an alternative. I liked the way this contrasted the movement of the subway car with the solid cement blue walls and turquoise metal walkway marker.
This motion in this is still really cool, even if it's not light trails! My daughter and I went out the other night and couldn't find enough traffic for light trails which was actually kind of shocking around here!
@pennyp I'm going to do another attempt tomorrow night if I can convince someone to come with me! But just in case, I wanted to post this as a humble offering for a slightly different take -- but know that I've been trying!
In no way is this a total failure! Sure you may not got the light trails you were after but you got something else, really great sense of movement and the tones are really fantastic! I like this a lot. I should start doing those get push challenges too, you know how can I join?
Yep, love this one too. Good luck tonight with the light trails. If you don't make it don't worry, I love both the efforts and the challenge has made you think - which is what it is all about.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to look at my extras album. This motion shot was fun to capture and I'm glad you liked it. I'm enjoying viewing your photos too!
@susale It's easy to join get-pushed. Just let @northy know that you want to do this and then in the next round, you'll get a notification (via 'mentioned you in xx') to check the thread to see who you were paired with. Then, you analyze your partner's work and present a challenge to him or her, and vice versa. It's all explained in the heading of the thread for the week. I encourage you to do this -- it's a great learning experience!
