Throwback Thursday is a new theme (tbt) that got me thinking today about what older photo I might use. Then the weekly theme "This is me" got me thinking about what old photos I might have to capture 'me.' Obviously my 'handle' is @Taffy and some have asked if that is my real name. In fact, it is. A story too long to go into, but my dad when I was born thought it would be funny to nickname me after his (deceased) Irish setter (pictured above). The nickname given decades ago has stuck and I've never been called by my given name. Sometime around my teen years, my parents legally added 'Taffy' to my birth certificate (at least, they told me they did -- the typing on it looks a lot like the typing on prescriptions from my father's pharmacy back when they all used typewriters to make labels). So, for 'this is me' and throwback Thursday, I present "Taffy" circa sometime in the late 1930s or early 1940s. Maybe someone will know from the cars in the background? I've always had an affinity for dogs -- perhaps this is why!
PS Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my recent Chicago architecture and river shots (and the tea bag/pot ones). I so appreciate your views, observations, and favs. It means a lot!
A lovely story about your name Taffy - it's certainly not a name I have heard before. I think my dad chose my name Pamela - not a name I like very much!! I love the pic of the old dog Taffy - some great cars in the background!!
All cars were made the same during the war. The newest could only be a 1940... Like the car peeking out from the bushes...'40 Chevy . Love this a lot...Taffy looks like a precious member of your family. :):).. Cool story!!
@nanderson Thanks Nancy, I'd always wondered! Dog Taffy must have been around from the mid 30's to 40s and my parents met during WWII and got married in 1946. So Dog Taffy would have been my dad's most recent dog to have lost when I was born. Interesting!
