A lily ended its life cycle today with its leaves on our coffee table. It was the last lily of a bunch Jim had brought home well over a week ago so I thought it would be nice to do something with its petals (Danbo's flight came later - http://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2014-02-21). I created this image from three leaves on a mirror, reflecting so they'd create the heart shapes, the rotating it vertically so that they'd be upright and fading into the distance. Converted to b&w because the pink and white was just a little too "girly."
Thanks to you all for putting my shot of the 9/11 memorial at the top of the TT. I can't even begin to convey how much that meant to me!
This is really beautiful, and a FAV!!! Very well done.... I am a little confused, though....are these two leaves forming a heart, and then reflected in the mirror twice....if that's the case, I am not seeing the third leaf! Fabulous, regardless of whether I get the process or not... :-)
@panthora It's actually three leaves (Danbo only used two of them). I laid the petal onto the mirror so that the curve of the petal formed the heart with the reflection -- each leaf was one of the three hearts. And then I just fooled around with the spacing so that the curve of one overlapped with the lower part of the one behind it. So three petals, each forming its own heart shape in the mirror. Then I had to rotate it 90 degrees or the hearts would have been on their sides instead of vertical. Confusing when I write it up, but really not very complicated once I sorted out the spacing and the need to rotate.
Ah, haaa!! Got it!! 3 petals overlaid front to back, focus on front, DOF, reflected to mirror on the right or left, rotated, damn, my head hurts!! Wonderfully executed... :-)))
inventive ,creative , and generous of you to share how it was done
Congrats on reaching nr 1 on TT!!!!!!!":) :)
