On our tour of Japan, in Kyoto we stayed at the Kyoto Tower Hotel, right across from the train station. It meant we could see our hotel's tower from almost every point in the city (thus, making it unlikely we'd be totally lost of we were separated from our small group). A bonus was we had access to the observation deck, which we visited at dusk through the blue hour. While not as dramatic as the Tokyo skyline, it was still an impressive view. Left shot taken from the plaza in front of the Kyoto train station, right hand shot from within the observation deck.
@redy4et Very few people spoke English so getting separated and lost was no small thing. Since both Michael and Junko are fluent, and we had about 3 of Michael's former students (now young adults) with us, we could divide up into smaller groups pretty comfortably. But, not speaking any Japanese or knowing any of the written language, I was glad to be with others who did! Thanks for the view/comment too!
Lovely shot!
