I do love the ETSOOI themes and the sunset last night seemed to cry out for additional editing. Here's where it ended up. This is the actual sunset in yesterday's collage - http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2015-05-31 . The version above is from a shot that I took after switching to my wide angle lens. You can see the same shape but a (understatement) hugely different treatment.
Fabulous, love the sense of movement in the image.
We got LR with a recent camera purchase. In your journey with it so far, would you recommend using it and getting to know it? I really keep putting it off!
@dibzgreasley Debs, I agree with Sally, that you will love LR. I started using it in January of this year, and it took me a few months to get comfortable with it -- but I was able to use it during that time. What happens is that over time, you learn more and more about how powerful LR can be for processing. And plug-ins like Nik Suite work well with it. I bought a book -- can get the name -- Scott Kelby or something like that -- that has been helpful. i need to go back to it now that I know the program better as much more will make sense. Strongly recommend it!
@taffy Ok, thanks so much for the feedback and recommendation Taffy.
I installed it yesterday and had a play. I've been using Adobe RAW for processing, so that bit I am at least comfortable with.
The rest is a learning process, especially getting my head around the idea that I don't need to 'create' jpgs for each RAW file until I want one to post - different work flow I suppose. Its a long time since I felt 'uncomfortable' with a computer photography process, but that's good!
So, I shall bring all my images in and keep at it. The name of the book would be great.

starting to play with it. Lots to learn.

@dibzgreasley Debs you have to learn how to use it, you'll never look back!

It's critical to set up your library 'right' from the beginning. The most important thing in LR in fact is getting that right, using the key words so you can find your photos. He talks about how to do it. I don't make a separate copy on import, but back up every week (except, oops, haven't backed up in a few weeks now and just realized that!).
