I usually use a wide angle lens when taking photos like this, which means these very sweet baby birch trees are lost within the scene. Since I had my 105 macro to take beach flowers on (see main album), I thought I'd capture these as they looked so pretty in the evening light and with the wind blowing. It's fun to be taking nature image for a change!

This looks wonderfully relaxing. I was thinking about you this evening on my way from chorus rehearsal during t-storms with really amazing lightning strikes. I was thinking that, at 33 stories up, I bet you would have wonderful opportunities. Glad you missed the storms and were north taking great photos!
What a beautiful scene - I want to be there as it looks so inviting. I often use my macro lens for a landscape and get good results showing a bit more of the nearby detail. Fav!
I like the composition here, with the sweeping curve of the bay and the well placed birches. Could probably have been more dramatic with a slightly wider angle, but, as you say, then the birches would have been lost. It is a good challenge at times to try and do the best with the equipment at hand.
I can feel the fresh air! :) What a great place to spend some "down time." An iconic Michigan shot... so lovely to not lose the trees with a wide-angle lens.
Really nice shot - you can almost feel the clarity of the light that is so typical of shores of the lakes
