See main album - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-06-25 - for how I happened upon this rescue scene...detail of the rescue follow:
A. Stop all cars (no photos of that -- not interesting -- there were only 2 cars)
B. Determine that someone should pick up turtle and move it away from street.
C. I leave to get camera
D. Conversation continues. Volunteer starts process of raising turtle. See scenes 1 - 3 above
E. Shortly before scene 4, turtle decides to fight this transportation - going for rescuer with it's claw. Rescuer reluctantly lets go -- captured in scene 4.
F. Long walk to the lakeshore, carrying turtle in box
G. Turn box on side with little shakes until turtle leaves box.
F. Go to lakeside (braving ticks and mosquitoes) to photograph now happy turtle.
Funny...I was wondering how big the snapping turtle was when I saw your main album. This puts things into perspective! I'm glad neither human nor turtle were harmed in this adventure...that is unless you were bitten by tick or mosquitoes. In which case, I appreciate your courage and bravery in the name of photojournalism! :)
So glad he was returned to natural habitat! Love the series of shots and unfolding of events. Hoping more of these types of things to come from your Beaver Island sojourn.
Listen I forgot to issue my get-pushed partner a challenge. So I shouldn't say anything about forgetting. But you are usually on top of the challenges. Now your story has a story title.
Great collage and story Taffy! I have never seen a snapping turtle - I didn't realise they could be so vicious! I thought they were gentle creatures like the tortoise!
I bet you don't see too many of these crossing the street in Chicago!! ;-)) Great rescue story, and of course like any major event it needed a visual artist to document it, and you just happened to be there with your camera!! Love it!!
