Lake Michigan looked like glass or a mirror yesterday -- really quite unusual. We had dinner as the 'small' ferry (the Beaver Islander) came in. If you have to take the small one, yesterday was the day!
This shot has a jaunty nautical flair! With all the flat water, the horizontal lines across the lake are really apparent. Such pretty light, too. I'll try to watch for stairs... thanks for the link.
@vera365 Wouldn't that be fun! I was thinking of sending it to the Beaver Island Boat Company -- who wouldn't be interested in such a smooth sunny sailing?
@pamknowler We try to schedule to be on the Emerald Isle ferry which is substantially larger and more stable -- and has far more comfortable seating. For the first 10 years or so that we were coming here, the one pictured was the big ferry and the South Shore was the little one -- I look at it now and can't imagine how we took it!! But for short weekend trips, we tend to fly Fresh Air -- the small airline that serves the Township airport nearest our house. They have 6 seater planes and I often get the co-pilot seat which is fun for photography. They just bought a fancy new plane that seats 8 or 10 -- can't remember -- and can do long distance charters. Just started advertising today so that would be really fun to take over and back.
@joansmor I took the small ferry (smaller than this one) once and got so sick on it, I refused to ride any ferry for about 10 years. Now the large one is actually pretty pleasant, but if the waves are more than 6 feet, we fly over instead!
