The new "my favorite pictures in a collage" challenge/theme is skies. I thought it would be fun to look at skies around the world and at the same time process some earlier photos that I had taken before learning Lightroom.
These are skies in (clockwise from top left): Wroclaw, Poland; Atacama Desert, Chile; Cairns, Australia; Death Valley, California, USA; Chicago, IL USA; Colorado Springs, CO, USA.
@jgpittenger I smiled at your comment...in Paula W's thread (who's hosting the challenge), I told her I'd had an idea and spent time on it, but wasn't happy with the result -- but agreed to post it anyway. The reason I wasn't happy is it has a good verbal theme, but visually doesn't connect. I just gave up on looking for ones that connected both visually and in terms of the around the world theme. I would have liked to find shots that had similar color skies but with different foregrounds. Learned something new about tagging in my library -- color tags matter!
A lovely collage, from a "these are beautiful skies" theme (because they are), but I agree with you and @jgpittenger about the connection part. For me, I don't do too many collages because I am not good at putting puzzles together and they make me feel fussy. Clapping to you for taking the time to pull this together in an effective way.
@rosiekerr You'd love it there, I think. Although they are having a tough time with smog at dangerous levels for breathing right now. I wonder if that would also be true in the desert or only in Santiago? The Atacama was really amazing -- what I image Yellowstone would have been like 70 years before it was a well traveled park.
Also learned that collages take more patience than I tend to have!
Lovely collection. The fish-eye of Wroclaw really stands out - no wonder you have picked it as your main image! And it shows me again, with this kind of lens, how important it is to get your main element in the centre of the image.
