Lovely day so far ... sleeping in, the annual hot dog picnic at friend's who live near the parade route, the parade itself, and then a quiet hour to look at photos. Tried to capture the diversity of elements to the parade from our marching veterans to the Native American representatives (Ojibway Indians settled Beaver Island long before the Mormons and Irish had their war in the 1800s, which the Irish won), to the creative ways people represented the volunteer fire department, the Statue of Liberty, and our inevitable politicians.
The day ended with fireworks -- in main album - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-07-04 and http://365project.org/taffy/special-photos/2015-07-04
@maggiemae Yes, the color scheme tends to be red/white/blue for the colors of the flag. And for those who really are into the spirit, you see the funny hats and other sorts of sparkler-like head bands and decorations.
Wonderful collage - it all looks such fun. I wish we had a happy celebration like this where everyone seems to take part. I look forward to seeing some firework images!
Fun collage of your 4th of July celebration! We're headed off to a party and

@888rachel About 400 people live here year round - the school has about 50 kids K-12. Then in the summer, the population rises to about 3000 with the seasonal residents (like us) and tourists. The island is about the size of the island of Manhattan in NY, but with very few people relative to its size. Most of the island is state forest.
