This is the spider who has taken up residence on my deck, this time between the stairs and a chair (so safer than when blocking the stairs). I was glad to see it survived after being knocked away (though I do NOT like these normally -- but how can you not like this face???).
Taken with my speedlight using one of the Rogue reflectors I've had but hadn't yet figured out how to use, for mentor group challenge of artificial light, b&w (color version in main album - http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-09-15 ).

So, without kids to serve as subjects I figured I go with someone I can now count on for a bit! The good news was I finally got out my speedlight and played around with the settings to see how different settings affected it if set to manual. I have a lot to learn about how it actually works.
Wow the difference in the amount of detail this one shows against the earlier one with natural light. I think the flash really helps with macro shots to show the textures. Well done Taffy -spiders are not my thing and if they come indoors they have to die! A great subject fir the theme though!
I love the detail on both. I'm not sure re the conversion here. I think it could do with a bit more white in the whites and maybe more clarity? Looks a bit dull grey
At the risk of sounding contrary, I prefer the b&w version of this shot. To my eye the lack of colour concentrates attention on the pseudo-face thereby introducing a sense of mystery or strangeness into the shot. Could almost be an alien.
