Catch Me, Please!! by taffy

Catch Me, Please!!

A treat today -- watching 2 of my doc students who are taking trapeze lessons. @ukandie1 and I spent 2 hours watching them practice flying from the trapeze, practicing movement shots. Processing using Topaz Texture Effects. They were so good, it didn't seem right to have the background be the gymnasium. Also for 52 week theme of faceless portrait this week - not sure it counts as a portrait, but it's faceless and it's (in my mind anyway) a portrait in context.
Such cool editing and what a super thing to watch and shoot.

What an amazing thing to take up... imagine getting up one morning and suddenly, over the breakfast toast, saying - "You know what, I think I'll take up the trapeze!"

So cool love the background!

Fantastic!!
February 16th, 2016
@vignouse That's pretty much the way Melanie described it! She's (not pictured here - this is her friend) afraid of height, but just decided one day to do this. They kept trying to talk me into trying it -- even had the instructor involved telling me I should just try it once. EEEK! Not for me!

Great timing! Love your background on this! I only came away with a few half decent shots, but it was great fun trying something different! And breakfast is on me next time!

So fun to think of doing trapeze, though I wouldn't be game. A nice faceless portrait!
February 16th, 2016
That must have been quite an experience - love your processing on it - really helped it to focus just on the two people.

This is brilliant Taffy and perfect for the faceless portrait. This is more along the lines I was thinking . You get the story even though you cannot see her face.Love it!! Fav! I still haven't worked out how to add one of my own backgrounds in Topaz. This works so well here!!

http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/assignments/faceless-portrait/#recent Taffy this was a link Joan gave me about Faceless Portraits (@joansmor) which I thought was very interesting as this is our theme.

@pamknowler Thanks! Will check it out.
February 17th, 2016
Wow, great timing and pov!
February 17th, 2016
That sounds exciting- both to do and photograph, although I'm more likely to do the latter at my age! Good shot- and you could send them soaring in a number of places- I think a cloud background would be fun.
February 18th, 2016
fabulous action :)
February 18th, 2016
Go graduate students!
February 18th, 2016
Awesome shot and nice to be able to watch them like that
February 19th, 2016
Sounds like a lot of fun (to watch, wouldn't catch me on a trapeze!). Love how you captured them with arms outstretched, almost touching
