It's nice to know that even after eight years here i can come across things which surprise me. As was definitely the case when a riverside walk found me at a croquet field. It's surprising enough when you find somebody who even knows the game, but to find a field dedicated to the sport and people playing, is a true find.
Things like this are also a great motivation for me to keep working on my Chinese, as seeing this just brought up so many questions. Such as, is this field really for just croquet, did they have to buy their own equipment, why feel the need to dress up in croquet attire, can anybody play here?
One reason I am learning Chinese is so I can have a fuller life and do more things. I definitely want to play croquet here in the future, as I enjoyed playing it as a kid. Not only this but i have a laundry list of things i want to see or do once my Chinese level is suitable. Meaning I better stop typing and get back to the books.
