The Forgetful Booth

In Taiwan many forms, especially those for the government, require you to attach a photo. Needless to say that most of us aren't walking around with ID size photos of ourselves in our wallets. So for the first few months of being here, you are constantly popping into a photo booth to get some pictures.

After those first few months though, you find out how easy it is to just go to a photo shop to have a picture taken, have some printed out, and best of all leave with a picture file that you can bring to other photo shops in the future to get more printed out. So pretty much every person has a few ID/passport size photos of themselves.

The problem is that usually these photos are sitting in a drawer at home, and they aren't with you when you really need them. Which always leaves you cursing yourself as you walk around to find the nearest photo booth. More than a few times this has happened to me, so I now keep some photos in my bag with me. In case I don't have my bag with me, I also keep the ID photo on my phone so I can find a photo shop to print out some more pictures.

But of course now that i'm so prepared, I have yet to actually need to put my picture on anything. Darn that Murphy.
