Staying Off The Grass By Choice

Since yesterday was about my daydreams of living in the Tienmu area of Taipei. Today's post is about my more possible move to the Daan area in the not too distant future. It's pretty much in the center of the city and it's biggest feature is the central park-esque park in the middle of the city. It also has a few universities, some populated by foreigners, so like tienmu there is a bit of a variety of restaurants.

On the other hand rents can be pretty expensive, so it will take quite a few months to find the right place for the right price. But that's ok as I have a whole lot of things i'm doing for some projects i'm working on, so no need to move until things have settled down a bit.

One thing that has come from some preliminary house hunting is that the area I live in now is darn well suited to my life. it might not be the swankiest of areas but it's quite convenient when it comes to the things that I need in my everyday life. But my landlord said that he'd like to raise the rent when the lease is up (it would be after my second year here and he told me a year in advance, so he is a good guy in my book), so we will see if that motivates me to move.

As for the picture, it is of Daan park. This site is ever so rare, a person laying down on the grass reading a book. Even though there is tons of grass and many trees in this park, you will never see people laying down to read, nap, picnic, or heaven forbid...sunbathe. The fear of the sun is just too great. Granted this person had everything but her hands covered up, but she still gets credit for being probably the first person i've ever seen lay down on the grass in Taiwan.

Although...perhaps i should rethink wanting to move there. It seems it could be a dangerous place taken over by rebels like this lady.
