Forgetting Where You Are

I have been here so long that Taiwan is "normal" to me. Even if there are things i still think are strange or odd, they are still "normal" to me. However there are some places in the city, like certain stores or restaurants, where while in those places it can feel like I'm back in the states.

One place like this is Carrefour, which is basically a French version of Walmart. Taiwan has their own Walmart-esque megamarts, but they don't have the western feel that Carrefour has. As such I sometimes will get lost in thought while inside and think that I'm back in the states. This usually results in having a bit of a startle when I snap back to reality and remember where I am.

It happened in this picture. I was walking out of Carrefour and into the scooter parking lot. I was a bit zoned out listening to my music and thinking about where I could buy the specific thing I was looking for, but I felt a little tingle in the back of my head that something was a little off. Quickly i came back to reality, when I realized that it was a parking lot full of scooters instead of cars.
