Inside The Luzhou Lee House

Here is a picture of one of the hallways of the Luzhou Lee mansion. Unfortunately in all my pictures the house seems small, but in reality it's quite big with over fifty rooms.

It's the very traditional style with indoor courtyards and having to walk outside to get from some rooms to others. This style always looks very elegant, but in practice it must be impractical, especially in a place with typhoons.

Besides being quite large, it also has a feature I'd never seen before in this type of house before, it has a second floor. In the three largest rooms, there is a wood ceiling and then stairs in the back that can go up a second level so that wood ceiling is the floor. There was a lot of room up there so i'm not exactly sure if it was used as an attic or actually used as rooms.

The house is still owned by the Lee family but they let people come to visit (for a fee). Nobody lives there though, as it's now used as office space, and what appears to be a kindergarten.
