American School by taiwandaily

American School

This is the Taipei American School. It's a school for American children K - 12 and it teaches the same curriculum and style as schools back in the states.

To go here, one of your parents has to be American, but as anything in life, rules can be skirted if you have the money for it. The tuition itself is quite high, which means there are some American kids who go to regular Taiwanese schools.

The area around the school is pretty creepy as it can feel like you stepped into another world. The local shops are full of American kids and hearing them gossip and use words that you never hear elsewhere in English, can be quite jarring.

But perhaps the creepiest thing is the social experiment I'd like to do. Right across the street from the American school is the Japanese school. If i was in some way forced to have kids, than i'd like it to be with a Japanese lady. This way one kid can go to the American school, and one can go to the Japanese school, and we can see which one turns out better.

"But what about the Taiwanese schools?" you ask. Well no worries, cause unless this Japanese lady is rich enough to afford both the American and Japanese schools, than the kids I was forced to have at gun point will all be going to Taiwanese schools.

Actually scratch that. I choose the bullet instead. I'd rather be dead than have kids....err....I mean I'd rather be dead than have kids who can only go to Taiwanese schools and be forced to deal with the highly stressful Taiwanese education system. Yeah, that answer sounds much nobler.
