My Stolen Dream Come True

I've always wanted to live in very traditional Chinese house. Actually I've wanted to live in a very traditional Japanese house, but i'd settle for a Chinese one. Well a foreigner friend and her husband did just this. They recently moved to Kinmen island (an island between Taiwan and China that is owned by Taiwan) and are staying in a very traditional style house.

Apparently it was a pretty run down place that they have been fixing up over the past few months. It must be going pretty well because she mentioned that a lot of people both local and tourist will just randomly peek into their house to take a look at what it's like and snap pictures. This reminds me that if i ever do live in a traditional house, the thing it must have is a giant wall around it.

They've also set up some guest rooms and plan to open it up as a B&B. In fact if you'd like to stay there, now would be the time as they are letting friends try it out for free. If you are interested you can let me know and I'll get you in contact with them.

Above is one of the many pictures they sent of the place, and I must say it looks very enticing. It might just be the kick in the pants I've needed to get over to Kinmen island, and then take the ferry over to China. I desperately want to get to that part of China as it's where most Taiwanese came from, so i'm curious to see what the culture is like over there.

Actually wasn't my birthday plan for last year to take this exact trip? Sigh another year without having gone anywhere. Remind me again when dogs are old enough to take care of themselves?
