Yesterday I spent the day riding up and down a mountain in a thunderstorm, hoping to not slide off the side of the mountain. My bike got a flat tire. But I failed to mention the true victim of yesterday, my dog.
At least that's how she tells the story. Somehow me being an hour and a half late for her dinner, was tantamount to an act of war. But in all seriousness, I know that in her eyes I have been out too long if when I come back she is extremely excited. Normally when I walk in the door, she comes to say hi and welcome me home, but if I have been gone for a long time she acts like I abandoned her and then decided to come back.
How to get around this judgmental dog? Well if I know that I'm going to be out for quite awhile, I will give her one of these dog bones. They will keep her busy for most of the day, so that she won't really notice that I've been gone for such a long time. Although not just any dog bone will do, they need to have the meat inside or else she will just ignore them for being too boring.
Yes this is the same dog who used to live on the streets. Yes I agree that she should be more than thankful for what she has. What's that you say, put her back on the street for a week to remind her what her life was like." Hmm, you're starting to make sense, voice in my head. See how reasonable you can be when your solutions aren't just burning things.
