Truth, Cheapness, And The Japanese Way

A past post was about the Taiwanese shops which used to be "everything is 30 cents" stores, but now are "everything is at least 30 cents but really most things are over 3 bucks" stores. Well one store that doesn't mess around with any of that tomfoolery is the one in today's picture.

In this store everything is the equivalent of $1.30 US dollars. The shocking thing is quality of the things you can get here. Yes there are a lot of cheap doodads for which $1.30 seems too much, but there are some things here that cost over ten times that if you get them elsewhere.

Meaning it's always smart to pop in to this store and just walk the aisles, as you may see something you need. On my latest trip I was able to pick up something that I'd needed for a long time, but never got because the prices always seem absurdly high at other places. I also made a mental list of many things they had which I will need in the future, meaning I should come back to get them here, rather than being gorged at other places.

And that's the real reason I like this store, it's clear, simple, and honest. Taiwan really is the wild west when it comes to pricing, as one item can be ten times cheaper or ten times more expensive at the next shop that sells it. Meaning it is definitely worth it to shop around, but it's also nice to have this one central store that which i know the price is probably the cheapest.
