Don't Move!

On various blogs I've shown pictures of the CKS memorial hall, but I don't think i've ever shown the inside. Well here you are. It is similar to the SYS memorial hall where SYS is also sitting in a chair. I'm actually curious why CKS is in a chair, perhaps he thought it would be more regal as he essentially was a king, but just from the type of person he was, it would seem like standing would be more his speed.

Regardless, but true star of the photo is the guard. This is the only place in Taiwan where they have guards who dress up and have to stay perfectly still. Unlike in England, people don't go up to them and try to make them laugh. They do a changing of the guards routine twice a day and every time I have been there for this, somebody has dropped their gun. Which actually makes me like Taiwan. Because afterwards that guy is probably teased, but if it were china that guy would probably be sent to a labor camp.

This picture is also in place of another picture that I want to take but dare not. Around the government office buildings and residencies, are guards armed with assault rifles. These guys are allowed to talk and are basically looking out for threats all day. I want to take a picture, but my Chinese is not good enough to say "it's just for my blog, i'm not casing the joint." Actually I could probably say that, but i'm sure with several armed guards yelling at me, my Chinese will suffer at that moment.
