Matterhorn from Schwarzsee

Some dude who was in a kind of euphoric state insisted on ruining this shot.

There are two ways to get a good close look at the Materhorn. You can load yourself up with long ropes, ice axe, pitons, crampons etc and climb up its south face or you can catch the three stage cable car system from Zermatt up to Klein Matterhorn. We chose the second method.

The first stage is a 4km long chair lift from Zermatt that takes 12mins and deposits you 1000m up at Schwarzsee (2583m).

I LOVE this mountain!!!! I not been there when it's this gloriously green. The last time I stood on the rocks not too far from the base camp hut everything was still covered in snow. But it was equally beautiful, in my humble opinion. Zermatt is one of my most favorite places in the world. *sigh*
