At a local wild park. Sorry for the quality - through the chainlink fence, while rushing to get the picture, handheld and all the way zoomed in. But I was very happy I got them right in that moment. The only thing, I wish the photo would also have the sound!!!!! :)
As always, I love reading your comments and reactions and very much appreciate critique, suggestions and ideas for improvement. Thanks!
Dear all! Thank you so much for fav-ing and commenting!
I am very glad I was there at the right time. We were already walking away from the wolves as "it" started - the "normal" wolves were challenged by the "polar" wolves to a howling duel. The two "clans" can't see each other in the park, but as it turns out, they do howl to assert their presence and let the others know who is the boss. These four were so hyped up about it, and were moving around so fast, that it was hard to even "aim" at them. They kind of looked like a little gang that needs to show that it's their territory - and then suddenly they stopped for a moment, howling in a choir like this. I am very glad that you also thought this picture is worth looking at! Thank you all very much.
saw this on the trending page and... well... dang! there's something few of us are ever likely to see! splendid timing and good for you for being ready to capture it!
Oh, that's a terrific capture! I don't think you need a soundtrack, the visual is so very strong that I can 'hear' the sound in my mind!
Very powerful. Well seen and great timing. Love it. Fav.
Oh, and I love the title too : all for one and one for all - fab interpretation.
Oh my! Dear all... what a great response to this photo!
Sorry for not being able to respond to some many people individually, but I want to thank you all for all your reactions, comments and favs! I am glad that so many of you enjoyed the photo - these gorgeous animals were spectacular to watch and listen to, and I am glad I could bring out at least a taste of this in the photo. Thank you so much!!!!
Elyse and Yao - these live in a wild park, and they have enough space to really form packs, I had a feeling. Also, there are more wolves in the park (polar wolves, far away from these, really out of sight). This pack seemed to be led by a young wolf, they were all busy trying to "exclude" another one from their family, and also to establish themselves as a "gang" on its own. I guess howling together was one of the ways to do it - they were answered by the very distant choir of the polar pack, which was goosebump-raising.
Wonderful capture... so glad you were able to grab the chance. Seeing your photo, in the context of the comments to give it some background, is really an opportunity. :)
Thanks, Rosie and Andie! It was truly exciting to see them "sing" and then stop like this. I had pictures of much better quality on that day (other animals), but just seeing them like this made me smile no matter the shot quality, so this was a winner in my eyes. I am glad so many people liked it.
@taffy Thank you, Taffy! This means a lot, especially coming from you - I admire your work and your willingness to view and to comment on others' photos.
@kchuk I know! I was talking to my husband saying that this picture - while of course making me think that these are gorgeous animals - also makes me smile because they also look kind of pathetic, like teenagers thinking that they are big and scary, and they are just making a lot of noise. Plus, in this case - I also think of a quartet... and smile.
@shepherdmanswife Not a problem - with all the 365 pictures, it's hard to keep track! I am glad you found it and that you enjoyed it. Those wolves were amazing for those singing moments. I am glad I was around, once it was over, they went back to their lazy lounging.
