Today just a neighbourhood photo: A very strange (for Germany) gate at one of the houses nearby. A little personal victory for me - There was a bike parked at the fence and the handle was peaking into the frame no matter how I would compose the picture. In my attempt to learn editing tools, I erased it (!) - a first for me.
As usual, I am happy to read comments, reactions and critique! Thank you.
This is a great shot. I love the simple composition. The colors and framing of the shot give it a whimsical feel. That dragon is so unexpected, and you have certainly highlighted that emotion and explained it to us with this simple but brilliant photo. Great job on the edit.. I don't see anything out of sorts.
I also love the composition here, because the fence is so step like from left to right across the scene.
I love this shot, the colours and composition are brilliant, well spotted and congratulations on the editing too, I would never know you had cloned out a bike.
From the gate dragons and invisible bikes - and of course from me - thank you so much for leaving a comment!
Ann - to the "asking to be photographed" - I thought so, especially since it is such a rare burst of color I found unexpectedly. But the people who live there, didn't think so. While I was at it, a very stern man cam out to ask if he could help me. And then looked puzzled when I told him that I just like his dragon, and the colors.... He is not a color-appreciating kind of guy, I felt. :)
Rachel - he didn't look Chinese a big, very Swabian-German looking kind of guy. Maybe he is married to a Chinese? And I didn't know what the spiral thing was - now I do, thanks!
Thank you all for commenting on colors (can't take credit for this) and composition! Thanks for stopping by!
Love the colors! In the comments I read about the guy who came out and asked if he could help. Isn't it disturbing, how people often assume the worst, when they see us with our cameras? I had a similar experience a while ago. I was taking pictures of a neighbors barn. I had even asked for permission. But he must have changed his mind or maybe he just had a bad day. So he came out of the house, started to yell and run at me. I was so scared...- and will never ever try to take pictures of his beautiful barn again.
Thank you for comments, Paul, Ute, Rob, Sophia and Julia!
Sophia - that's what I thought when I saw the colors. I usually drive past that place and have never noticed before, but I was on the walk last Saturday, and just couldn't believe my eyes! So, I had to come back and take a picture.
Ute - I KNOW! I very often get stern looks from people just photographing things on the street! And that gate was not really in the inner court, just by the side walk, and he still got suspicious. He was OK though after I told him I was taking a picture of his dragon, because I found the colors so pretty. Although, it made me stop taking pictures and just move on. I should try some happier country some time!!! :)
Love the dragon. :)
