My trip to Dinan yesterday took an hour's driving each way and one and a half hours on the ground; three and a half hours is too much of an investment of time for just one post so you're going to be seeing more of the quaint Vieux Port de Dinan over the next day or two.
I was photographing this steep paved alleyway which leads up to Dinan town centre when this little girl came walking down on her way home from school. I thought it made a charming image.
Todays OCOLOY learning point: take the time to explore all the possibilities of each view before moving on. Sometimes you'll see other opportunities for a shot, sometimes something serendipitous will happen, like this little girl walking into the scene.
(You can find an explanation of OCOLOY in my 1 January post and in my profile.)
@jasperc Thanks Jasper; I do think that I'm beginning to develop a 35mm eye - I'm starting to spot scenes that would suit this focal length... so the 'punishment' is working, and I'm watching out for converging verticals like a hawk ;-)
She is so young and tiny, against the cobblestones and the older buildings. Lovely composition, especially SOOC. Good for you, to pursue this challenge.
This is full of character from another era and the contrast of the young girl reminds that some considerable time has elapsed since these houses were constructed. Particularly like the low windowsills aka opportunistic resting places.
I have been here, we were on holiday in Dol de Bretagne, wonderful place, unfortunately I had no film in my camera which was in a case in the car we were heading for the ferry home. Thanks for the reminder with this great shot..
