Bramber castle by 4rky

Bramber castle

Bramber castle, perched on a high natural knoll overlooking the River Adur, was built shortly after the Norman Conquest around 1072 to defend a gap in the South Downs. It fell into disrepair as early as the late middle ages and was in ruins by the 16th century. Now, the one surviving wall of the tower, standing 14 metres high, provides a glimpse of how imposing the castle once was

Local legend claims that a riderless white horse can be seen galloping around the moat on moonlit nights……….
Fantastic! How I would love to see this in person!

Beautiful image, thanks for the backstory! It doen't look too stable to me, but I guess it has been standing (almost) 1000 years
