The Grand Canyon, as seen at sunset from Bright Angel Point on the (less-visited) North Rim.
The North Rim, and this viewpoint, is approximately 5,700 feet (just over a mile) above the floor of the canyon, which is also where the Colorado River, as seen in my previous photo, flows.
Unfortunately I don't have any Grand Canyon pictures I'm particularly happy with -- my visit to the South Rim was totally overcast, and while the weather was better here, my shots don't seem to have much excitement, or convey the scale of the canyon.
I'm a British software developer and photographer living in Vancouver, BC. I mainly photograph landscapes, cityscapes, night scenes, and water.
If you're interested in any...
I think the line of grey cliffs running across the centre of the shot, the obvious distance to the far side and your composition, keeping the sky to a minimum does give it some scale. The subdued light and colours are fabulous!
Its' always hard to truly convey the scale of the canyon, but I think you did a good job of it. I like how you captured the sun hitting the edges of the cliffs way off in the distance. Very nice landscape
oh. my. goodness. saw this on the thread about Sigma 10-22, not sure why I was reading that thread....but this is SO STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! huge fave
