The weather in Vancouver hasn't been all that great over the last few days, and as usual in these situations, my enthusiasm for photography has also waned. I'm amazed and inspired by those who go out and take a photo every day, regardless of the conditions!
This photo is really the epitome of laziness, but also serves to remind me how incredibly lucky I am. This was taken about 15 feet from where I'm sitting writing this, and is what I can see out of the window when I peer over the top of my computer screen (at least when the clouds get out of the way). Although the sun didn't actually manage to break through, the clouds thinned just about enough at sunset to bring some warmth to the scene, and some interesting patches of light and shadow.
This was taken with my 70-300mm lens at 300mm, with a Kenko 1.4x teleconverter attached. As I've seen reports of this teleconverter not working with my new camera and certain lenses, this shot could be considered as me simply testing it out. I'm more impressed than I remember being with the sharpness (it's been a long time since I used it).
Shots like this also remind you just how careful you need to be to avoid camera shake -- I could quite effectively ruin this photograph just by walking around the apartment -- the laminate flooring transmitted the slight vibrations to the tripod, and hence to the camera. For this shot, I used the 10 second self-timer with mirror lockup enabled, and went and sat down while the shot was taken.
I'm a British software developer and photographer living in Vancouver, BC. I mainly photograph landscapes, cityscapes, night scenes, and water.

Incredible view you have. You're lucky. Would be interesting to take 4 shots of this during the seasons and create a collage. Curious to know what scenic view the clouds are hiding.
Only slightly jealous. ;)
