'No planes in sight...'

Wiltshire was and is a county that has a long association with the armed forces, mainly the army but also the RAF.

During WW2 Spitfire production was switched to 3 or 4 locations in the country including Trowbridge, where they were part assembled, then sent to hangers around Keevil Airfield where they were finally assembled and flown out to other airfields across the country.

This is one of a cluster of buildings, which may have been used for this task, or they may have housed ancillary operations.

Sad to see them in such neglect.

I have always been interesting in WW2 history so your photo caught my eye. Reminds me of a scene from Foyle's War. Very nice find and thank you for sharing a bit of history too. Fav
