Situated at The Old Filling Station, Lopenhead in Somerset, the The Railway Carriage Cafe has both an organic food shop in this building and a railway carriage that has been lovingly restored and opened as a café in 2006.
Seating around 22 "passengers" the carriage serves lunches alongside hot & cold beverages & delicious home-made cakes.
The Railway Carriage was built between 1887-90 at The Stratford Locomotive and Carriage Works.
Around 3,000 were originally built for use on the Great Eastern Lines out of London Liverpool Street Station, but in latter years many were sold off and are now used as house extensions, holiday chalets & of course a café!
@dorsethelen Thanks very much for your comments & the fav-yes the mural is very clever, even better in 'real life' I can also vouch for the delicious food served in the railway carriage.
