Studley Mill is an 1860 rebuild of a factory dating from 1825 and was owned by John & Thomas Clark who bought the site from Thomas Deacon.
Studley Mill, was one of 14 mills that were producing West of England broad cloth when Trowbridge was at its peak.
The town was the foremost producer of contemporary clothing and blankets in South West England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries by which time it held the nickname "The Manchester of the West".
@busylady Thanks for your comments. The mill is now flats. I have never been inside since it was converted, but it would be interesting to see if they retained any of the features associated with the woollen mill.
